AUSTIN — October 13, 2026 —Sonar, the global leader in agentic code governance and verification, today announced it has joined the OpenAI Daybreak Cyber Partner Program, gaining access to advanced cybersecurity frontier models. The program deepens Sonar's ongoing collaboration and engagement with OpenAI, building on its commitment to OpenAI’s call for collective action on cyber defense. Trusted by over 7 million developers and over 22,000 customers, including 75% of the Fortune 100, Sonar can now deploy Daybreak-class models in its multiple products.
Frontier AI is changing the economics of cyber defense. The same advances that make software creation faster are giving attackers greater ability to identify, understand, and exploit weaknesses. The time between a vulnerability being discovered and weaponized is closing, leaving organizations with less room to find and fix the flaws in the software they depend on. The answer is not simply to detect attacks faster, but to remove the weaknesses attackers would exploit before software reaches production and to continuously reduce the risk already present in the codebase. That requires security capabilities built for the pace, scale, and complexity of modern software engineering.
Sonar’s frontier security offering helps engineering teams prevent, find, and fix security vulnerabilities in every line of code, new and in production, so they can stay ahead of AI-enabled attackers. As AI is reducing the time and resources needed to find and exploit vulnerabilities, it is more critical than ever to ensure that code is built secure from the start. Sonar brings frontier AI capabilities into the Agent Centric Development Cycle, helping agents write more secure code, deploying agentic vulnerability researchers to hunt for hidden weaknesses before they enter the codebase, prioritizing verified risk, and accelerating remediation. Security is built into every change, at any volume of code, and at agent speed.
Participation in the Daybreak program enables Sonar to bring Daybreak-class models into SonarQube Hunter Agent, an agentic vulnerability researcher available as part of the SonarQube platform. This expands the intelligence available for Hunter Agent’s guided reasoning process. The approach is designed to ensure that frontier-model reasoning produces results that are precise, consistent, and auditable.
“Frontier AI has fundamentally changed the security challenge,” said Harry Wang, EVP of Strategic Growth and Labs at Sonar. “Attackers can use more capable technology to find and exploit weaknesses faster than ever before. Security teams and the engineering teams owning the applications need the ability to get ahead of that cycle, by equipping agents to better prevent issues where possible, identifying the risks that matter, and resolving them with confidence. This keeps the attack surface from growing faster than they can defend it. That is the frontier security capability Sonar is building for software engineering teams.”
