How are the plans licensed?

Accepted Answer

Commercial Editions (Developer, Enterprise, and Data Center) are priced per instance per year and based on your lines of code (LOC). An instance is an installation of SonarQube. You pay per instance for a maximum number of LOC to be analyzed.

Developer Edition pricing starts at $160/yr for a maximum analysis of 100,000 LOC and can extend to $68,580/yr for a maximum analysis of 20M LOC.

Enterprise Edition pricing starts at $21,000/yr for a maximum analysis of 1M LOC and can extend to $252,000/yr for a  maximum analysis of 100M LOC.

Is support included in my plan?

Accepted Answer

Support is included in your plan by default starting at 30M lines of code. For 1 - 20M lines of code, you can choose to add support for an additional $21K. Check out our Community Support or login to the Commercial Support portal to talk to our Services team.

Question 3

How are my Lines of Code (LOC) calculated?

Accepted Answer

LOCs are computed by summing up the LOCs of each project analyzed. Lines of test code are never included in this number. The LOCs used for a project are the ones found during the most recent analysis of this project. If you start using the branch analysis, then the LOCs of a project will be computed from the project’s largest branch.

What happens if my instance gets close to or reaches the limit of LOCs?

Accepted Answer

If you are getting close to the threshold, you will be notified to either upgrade your plan or reduce the number of LOCs in your projects. If you reach your limit, you will receive an error message and the SonarQube instance will reject any new analysis whose total lines of code exceed the limit defined by your license. However, SonarQube will retain basic functionality such as saving configuration changes and allowing project browsing.

Which programming languages does SonarQube support?

SonarQube's Community Edition covers the following langagues and frameworks: Java, C#, JavaScript, TypeScript, CloudFormation, Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, Kotlin, Ruby, Go, Scala, Flex, Python, PHP, HTML, CSS, XML and VB.NET.

In addition to the languages covered by Community Edition, Developer Edition provides coverage for the following languages: C, C++, Obj-C, Swift, ABAP, T-SQL and PL/SQL.

Enterprise Edition provides additional support for the following languages: Apex, COBOL, PL/I, RPG and VB6.

Data Center Edition covers all languages listed above.

How do I get an evaluation license and do I need to pay now?

You can request an evaluation license by simply clicking on the 'Start Free Trial' button. Once you request that, our sales representative will contact you to activate the trial and discuss options once your trial is complete. No payment is required to request or activate a free trial license.
