Transcript
This video shows first-time users how to log in to the Sonar License Portal and access their license details. After purchasing your Sonar product, the designated license manager will receive an email with a link to the Sonar License Portal. The Sonar License Portal is a self-serve platform that lets you access your SonarQube Server license information without submitting a support ticket. In the portal, you can retrieve your license keys, manage license manager permissions, monitor consumption, and view license details, such as features, activation statuses, and connected servers. The email you receive also confirms you’re a registered license manager. Note that the license manager role is different from the SonarQube administrator role, and to activate your license, you need both: The license manager has access to the Sonar License Portal, can assign other license managers, and is responsible for providing the license key to the SonarQube Server administrator. The SonarQube administrator has the Administer System permission in SonarQube Server, and is responsible for entering the license key details in SonarQube to activate the product. It’s fine for the license manager and SonarQube administrator to be the same person; just remember that the roles require different levels of access and permissions. To log in to the Sonar License portal, you’ll need to use the same email that received the license manager invitation. You have two options: If you’ve already used this email to sign in to other Sonar platforms, such as the Help Center or Learning Center, enter the email to log in. If this is your first time signing in to a Sonar platform, you’ll need to create a Sonar sign-in first. Scroll down to First time visitor? and click the Sign up link. Create your sign-in using the same email address that received the license manager invitation. If you need assistance, you can also reach out to loginsupport@sonarsource.com Once you’ve verified your account, log in to the portal to access your license key. Go to Licenses to view your license key details. Under License users and key, you’ll see the 16-digit license key used to activate your product. Under Note you’ll see the type of license—PRODUCTION, BREAKGLASS (which is a temporary license for emergency use), or STAGING It also shows the associated products and lines of code limit. Status tells you if the license has been Activated, and if so, whether it’s active or inactive. Under Times activated you’ll see the number of SonarQube instances the license is activated on. This matters if your plan includes staging licenses and you actively run them. To copy a license key, click on the key, then select it and copy it to share with your SonarQube administrator. To add a license manager, go to Orders, and select your order. Under License Managers select Add License Manager, and enter your license manager details. New license managers will automatically receive an email invitation with the portal link. Each manager will use their own Sonar sign-in to access the portal. The next videos in this series will walk you through how to activate your license. The activation approach you follow will depend on whether your SonarQube Server instance can connect to the internet, or is air-gapped.
