Setting up SonarQube for IDE in Connected Mode with IntelliJ

Hey there! In this video, you'll learn how to set up SonarQube for IDE in Connected Mode with IntelliJ. This allows you to find and fix issues directly in IntelliJ before you even commit the code. Let's get started! The first step is to install the SonarQube for IDE extension. Go to your IntelliJ Settings, then Plugins, and search SonarQube. Select install. Once it's installed, you'll see the logo in your bottom-left sidebar. Click on the logo to see issues found based on Sonar's standard settings. Next, we'll need to enable Connected Mode. Connected Mode binds your IDE with your SonarQube instance and unlocks security analysis like SAST and secrets, and advanced bug detection. It allows you to perform SonarQube operations right in your IDE including AI CodeFix, marking false positives, and accepting issues. It also enables support for additional commercial languages. To see more about Connected Mode features, see Sonar's documentation guide. Select the project settings icon. Select bind project to SonarQube, then select Configure the connection. Note that if credential connection sharing is already enabled in your repository, you should have an option labeled set up connection. Otherwise, you'll need to enter your server URL manually. Add a new connection, and create a name for your connection. Select the instance you are on, and enter your server URL. Next, generate a user token. If you are already logged in to your SonarQube instance, IntelliJ will generate the token automatically. Next, bind your project to an existing project to copy its rules and settings. If you already have connection sharing enabled, your project will automatically bind. Otherwise, search and select it. The project is now bound. Lastly, if you want to share your Connected Mode configuration file with other developers working on the same project, select share configuration. This stores the project binding in the repository, so everything is pre-configured for other developers. Now you are ready to start finding and fixing issues in IntelliJ.
