In this video, you’ll learn how to activate your SonarQube Server license when your SonarQube Server instance is air-gapped and can’t connect to the internet. If your instance is connected, watch the video Activating your SonarQube Server license. Note: If you’re in a highly restricted environment where no files, devices, or network connections may cross your environment boundary, contact Sonar for help. To activate your license offline, you’ll need three things: Your 16-digit license key from the Sonar License Portal. If you’re not the license manager, they’ll need to share it with you. The Administer System permission in SonarQube Server. An internet-connected computer and a way to move files between it and the machine running your SonarQube Server instance. If you’re not sure how to retrieve your license key, watch the video Getting started with the Sonar License Portal. After the license manager has copied and shared the 16-digit license key with you, log in to SonarQube Server as an administrator with the Administer System permission. Go to Administration > Configuration > License manager > Add license Paste your license key, accept the terms and conditions, and click Set license. Because your instance can’t reach Sonar’s licensing service, SonarQube Server prompts you to activate offline. Select Activate offline. SonarQube Server creates a request file with a .req extension. Download it—this is the file Sonar uses to generate your license. Move the .req file to a computer with internet access using your organization’s approved method. On that computer, go to offlinelicense.sonarsource.com and upload the .req file. Your browser automatically downloads a .lic file, which is your license. Move the .lic file back to the machine running SonarQube Server and upload it on the License manager page. SonarQube Server confirms that your license is activated. That’s it!
