Development on Demand

Already using Sonar and pretty satisfied with the product, you might feel a functionality is missing that would really make a difference for you. You can influence the roadmap, whether the functionality belongs to it or not.

Since version 1.5, Sonar is extensible to allow addition of new features. Here are some sample use cases :

  • Collecting and injecting into Sonar metrics already generated by a third party tool
  • Compiling a custom metric within Sonar
  • Developing new Checkstyle or PMD rules
  • Developing a brand new feature (such as Dependency Matrix for example)
  • Analyzing new language

A Development On Demand can be done in two modes :

  • The source code is distributed under the Open Source LGPL v3 license and SonarSource officially supports the new feature
  • The source code is owned by the customer and the maintenance support can be delegated to SonarSource

In both of those modes, we contractually ask our customers to subscribe to our annual Professional Support service when developments are delivered.

In SonarSource we share a set of common agile practices and values across to deliver quality code on time. We do use best of the breed tools to support our developments (Jira, Confluence, Hudson, Maven, Subversion) and to offer the highest level of transparency to our customers.
