The PL/SQL product is a commercial extension of the Sonar platform, which analyzes applications based on the Oracle PL/SQL technology and displays quality data in dashboards.
This new version provides improvements and a new feature :
- Parser improvements :
Support of REMAINDER, REM, subqueries, LIKE2, LIKE4, etc.

- New rules for code quality assessment :
SonarSource has developed a rule engine, that makes easier the creation and integration of new PL/SQL rules. In this version, 4 new rules have been added in PL/SQL 1.11 :
- Procedure/function complexity check
- Procedure/function naming conventions
- Avoid using GOTO statement
- Use WHEN OTHERS in exception handling

We are pleased to announce that Eric Hartmann has joined SonarSource and will be looking after Infrastructure & Support.
While both products range and user community are growing around the Sonar platform, Eric’s key assignments will be:
- To insure ongoing success of Sonar platform & Ecosystem to our 150+ customers
- To support the development internal infrastructure
Prior to joining SonarSource, Eric was Project Manager at ServeBox (a RIA consulting & engineering company) and most recently freelance consultant since 2008.

This new version of Sonar SQALE (Quality Model) brings 3 new features:
- Linear remediation function with an offset in computing the remediation cost
- Linear remediation function with a threshold in computing the remediation cost
- A new stacked area chart, showing the history of each characteristic remediation cost
SQALE 1.3 comes also with UI improvements:
- The ability to change dynamically the depth of the SQALE Sunburst, without switching to the configuration view
- Increase of the Kiviat chart size
- Correction of minor bugs on file rating distribution chart

This product enables cobol developers to check the quality of the changes they have made, prior to committing back to the SCM. It also shows the differential between what they have and what was previously analysed.
